Audio Field 🎤

The Audio field allows users to record a voice comment, a vocal memo, or any other sound directly from their mobile device.

🔊 Where and How to Play Back an Audio Recording?

From the mobile app:

  • By opening the entry from the Sent tab.

  • By searching for the entry via the Server tab.

  • By opening an export and clicking the link of the recording.

From the Web interface (data history):

  • By viewing the data preview.

  • By opening the entry in edit mode.

  • By accessing the recording via the link in the export.

⚠️ Important The Audio field cannot be used when filling in data via the Web.

Field Options

Once the field has been added to your form, access its options by clicking the pencil icon.

The options are organised across five tabs: Properties, Visibility, Display, Advanced, and Help.

1. Properties Tab

By default, the field title matches the field type, but you can rename it as needed. Changing the title after the form has been saved for the first time does not modify the field's identifier or its tag (visible in the Help tab).

1.1 Required Field

When this option is enabled, users must fill in this field before they can save the entry. A red asterisk will appear next to the field name.

2. Visibility Tab

As with all field types, you can:

  • Set one or more visibility conditions: the field only appears when the specified condition(s) are met.

  • Check Always hidden to prevent the field from appearing during data entry.

  • Leave the settings as-is: the field will always be visible.

3. Display Tab

This tab lets you customise how the field appears in the mobile app.

3.1 Stay on the Same Line as the Previous Element

This option displays two fields side by side during data entry, provided that the Allow multiple fields on the same line option has been enabled in the mobile app settings.

3.2 Element Size

This controls the font size of the field name during data entry. You can choose between Normal, Larger, or Smaller.

3.3 Colour

The field name will be displayed in the colour of your choice.

3.4 Icon

This option displays an icon to the left of the field name.

3.5 Help Text

You can enter guidance text for your users. During data entry, this text can be viewed by clicking the question mark icon displayed to the right of the field name.

4. Advanced Tab

4.1 Personal Data

This option partially masks personal information in the data history, while still allowing it to be fully displayed with a single click. It also makes it possible to export a CSV file containing only the fields for which this option is enabled.

4.2 Read-Only in Edit Mode or Push

The entry cannot be modified after it has been saved, or when pre-filled data is sent via Push.

5. Help Tab

This tab displays the identifier and the tag associated with the field.

  • The Identifier is automatically generated from the field name. You can modify it, as long as the form has not yet been saved.

  • The Tag is built from this identifier. It is always enclosed in double hash symbols: ##tag##

Tags are essential for creating custom exports in Word and Excel formats. They can be adjusted to present the collected data in different ways.
